Webzen on Monday unveiled directing images and key information for its new game 'Project D1' being developed at its subsidiary Webzen Crevice.
'Project D1' is a command strategy role-playing game using the intellectual property of the Naver Webtoon 'Becoming the Tyrant of a Defense Game'.
Webzen applied a 'diorama pixel art' technique that combines 2D pixel art with Unreal Engine 5-based 3D space staging. It blended handcrafted dot graphics with a sense of 3D space to recreate the mood of the original work.
The game system restructures the original work's core elements of exploration, defensive battles and territory management into party composition, tactical operation and command-combat formats. Webzen also presented a key character meeting scene, battle screens and concept art for the fortress city 'Crossroad', based on in-game graphics.
Webzen signed an IP licensing agreement with Naver Webtoon in December last year. It plans to provide detailed game information in the second half of this year and begin service preparations. It will disclose detailed development progress and the release schedule in stages later.
