Hana Financial Group held a volunteer activity to provide essential household and workplace items to small merchants in the Myeongdong area.

Hana Financial said on Aug. 9 it carried out the 'Happy Box Sharing' volunteer activity on Aug. 8 together with the Myeongdong Merchants Association.

About 70 employees and family members took part in the activity. Participants packed about 200 Happy Boxes and visited about 100 small-business sites around Myeongdong to deliver them in person.

The boxes contained items that can be used at workplaces, including disposable aprons, standard garbage bags, nitrile kitchen gloves, dishwashing detergent, hand sanitizer, wet wipes and coffee mixes.

They also included eco-friendly dishcloths and pen sets made using prizewinning works from Hana Financial's art competition for people with developmental disabilities, Hana Art Bus.

Hana Financial runs programmes such as a High-Efficiency Energy Device Support project that provides small merchants with 1 to 3 energy-efficiency grade air conditioners, refrigerators, washing machines and clothes dryers, and an Online Sales Channel Development Support project to help them enter online markets.

An official from Hana Financial's ESG planning team said, "We hope these Happy Boxes help small merchants in their daily lives." The official added, "We will continue ESG activities linked with local communities."
