Business Insider reported on Aug. 6 that Nvidia is forming a new AI safety and security engineering team, citing job postings published late last month.

The report said Nvidia is hiring security research engineers, evaluation engineers and a senior manager, along with a principal engineer who can serve as a technical leader for the newly created team.

The job postings say the team will assess AI agents before deployment and develop AI-based tools to patch software vulnerabilities.

The hiring shows Nvidia is making AI safety a bigger priority as it bets on a future driven by open-weight models and AI agents.

Open-weight models keep training data and source code private, but make public the trained weights that determine a model's behavior.

One posting said the team is rooted in a firm belief that open-weight models, transparency and broad scientific validation are the foundation underpinning U.S. AI leadership and cybersecurity defence.
