The number of customers on Thailand mobile banking platform Line BK topped 8.8 million in the first half of this year. Loan users totalled 931,000, while outstanding loans stood at 29 billion baht.
Line BK said on Sunday that its customer base in the first half of 2026 topped 8.8 million, up 12 percent from a year earlier.
Line BK provides financial services such as banking, loans and insurance on the LINE app. The number of loan users in the first half was about 931,000, up 15 percent from the same period last year. Outstanding loans were 29 billion baht, equivalent to about 1.26 trillion won under the company’s conversion. The conversion applied about 43.34 won per baht.
Line BK is running a brand campaign, “When you need funds, Line BK helps,” to promote how to use its digital lending service and responsible borrowing.
It also introduced a friend referral feature that allows existing borrowers to share a referral code with family or acquaintances on the LINE app. If the referred customer completes a loan application and contract, both the referrer and the new customer receive cashback. Participating customers have topped 10,000 since the feature was launched.
For loan screening, it applies its proprietary credit scoring model, KLINE Score, which uses non-financial data. It is an alternative data-based model designed to assess repayment capacity for customers with limited records of existing loans or card use.
It is also expanding digital insurance products. Line BK partnered with Thai life insurer Muang Thai Life Assurance to launch a comprehensive cancer insurance product, CI Care Plus, earlier this year.
The product covers cancer-related inpatient and outpatient treatment costs up to 5 million baht. Under the company’s conversion, that is about 216.7 million won, applying about 43.34 won per baht. Line BK said the product accounted for about 15 percent of its recent monthly total insurance premium sales within one month of launch.
Line BK expects the gradual introduction of a virtual bank system in Thailand to affect competition in the digital finance market and expand financial access, and it plans to expand related products and services.
Thanapol Thitikamjorn (타나 포티캄조른), chief executive officer of Kasikorn Line, said, “In today’s environment, where liquidity management has become important, what customers want is not a high loan limit but a financial solution that allows easy and convenient repayment suited to their financial circumstances.”
Young-eun Kim (김영은), chief operating officer of Line Financial and chair of the board of Kasikorn Line, said, “The competitiveness of digital finance depends on how much it can lower financial barriers in customers’ daily lives,” adding, “We will respond to the changing financial needs of Thai customers.”
