The Broadcast Media Communications Commission said on Aug. 3 it is recruiting a public jury for the "2026 BAMITWI Broadcast Awards Ceremony" to be held on Nov. 30, with applications accepted through the 21st. This year it will raise the weight of public jury evaluations to 20 percent from 10 percent.

The commission plans to select a total of 12 jurors, considering factors including the completeness of applications as well as age, gender and region.

Any South Korean citizen aged 19 or older may apply. Applicants should download an application form from the commission's website, complete it and submit it by email.

Selected jurors will evaluate finalists recommended for the main round among entries that passed the preliminary review. However, the online video service (OTT), web and app content category will be excluded from the review.

Public jury evaluations will account for 20 percent of the final selection of winners. That is double the 10 percent applied last year.

For the OTT, web and app content category, the commission plans to operate a separate public participation method, including using the "BAMITWI 2030 Advisory Group" made up of younger generations to conduct evaluations.

The BAMITWI Broadcast Awards is an event that honors programs produced and aired domestically in the previous year, as well as individuals and groups that contributed to the development of broadcast culture.
