SK Telecom said on Sunday it will provide its in-house edtech solution, 'AI Picture Diary', to the '2026 Digital Sprout project' carried out with Soonchunhyang University, as it moves to support AI transition (AX) in education settings.

Digital Sprout is a student-focused AI and software (SW) education project driven by the Ministry of Education and managed by the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity. Soonchunhyang University was selected as the lead institution for the project for a second consecutive year. SKT is cooperating this year as a participating institution.

SKT will use its self-developed AI Picture Diary in the curriculum. AI Picture Diary is a solution that helps lower-grade elementary school students and students in special education with reading and writing and expression activities. When a student enters thoughts and feelings in text, generative AI analyses the content and structures it into 4 scenes, creating images and voice narration tailored to each scene.

Students can review how their sentences are turned into images and a story, and experience expressing thoughts in sentences by revising the output.

AI Picture Diary also has management functions that support teachers in running classes. Through a dedicated dashboard, teachers can check students' class participation, the status of picture-diary writing, submission results and other items, and guide lessons in line with progress.

The two organisations will also produce and provide a dedicated workbook to link digital activities with handwriting activities. In the second semester, they plan to run a separate curriculum using AI Picture Diary for students in special education.

Koo-young Kim (김구영), head of SKT's Enterprise Business Division, said the company will expand edtech cooperation based on 'warm AI' so that AI technology can support more students' learning and growth beyond differences in regions and education conditions.
