OpenAI CEO Sam Altman (샘 알트먼) demonstrated a new model, Astra, to policymakers and regulators in Washington, D.C. this week, The Information reported on July 31, citing three sources.
OpenAI stressed that Astra can run multiple agents together for long periods to solve particularly difficult tasks such as projects or advanced mathematics problems, the report said. Astra will be a new family of models from OpenAI following Sol, Terra and Luna.
The release timing is not yet known. Sources said OpenAI has not decided whether to name it GPT-6 or release it as a GPT-5 family model such as GPT-5.7.
The models have already entered testing and are expected to be the first to go through a federal government pre-submission system for new AI models that the Trump administration is preparing, one source said.
Sources said OpenAI also plans to release a report in the short term detailing how its latest AI solved 10 previously unsolved difficult mathematics problems.
