[DigitalToday reporter Ji-young Lee (이지영)] BNK Busan Bank is rolling out a preferential loan product offering up to 35 million won for daily construction workers who find it difficult to prove income and employment.
BNK Busan Bank said on Thursday it has launched the "Construction Worker Preferential Loan" to support financial access and livelihood stability for daily construction workers.
The bank will use severance fund contribution records issued by the Construction Workers Mutual Aid Association in loan screening, reducing the burden of submitting separate income verification documents. It will also reflect estimated income calculated by a credit rating agency.
Eligible borrowers are construction workers who, based on severance fund contribution records, have made contributions for at least 90 days within the past 6 months or at least 180 days within the past year.
The loan limit is up to 35 million won and the interest rate is up to about 5.5 percent a year.
The bank plans to expand the service so customers can apply through non-face-to-face channels such as mobile banking in the future.
A Busan Bank official said, "It was designed so construction workers who struggle to prove income can use financial services in a stable way." The official added, "We will expand tailored financial support for customers in financial blind spots."
