KB Kookmin Bank is introducing artificial intelligence and digital literacy education to its youth mentoring programme, KB Raschool. It will also increase the share of students selected from regions outside the capital area to help narrow education gaps between regions.

KB Kookmin Bank said on July 30 it held a launch ceremony for KB Raschool on July 29 in Seoul's Gangnam district.

KB Raschool is a learning-focused programme under KB Kookmin Bank's corporate social responsibility initiative KB Dream Wave 2030. Together with the Aideul and Future Foundation, it provides learning support and university student mentoring to teenagers nationwide.

This year, 300 middle school student mentees and 150 university student mentors will take part. To reduce education gaps between regions, KB Kookmin Bank expanded the share of students selected from outside the capital area and strengthened its AI-based curriculum.

The newly introduced AI and digital literacy education covers AI understanding, data-based problem solving, setting AI learning plans and forming study habits using AI.

KB Kookmin Bank plans to support teenagers so they can correctly understand AI and use it for learning and career exploration.

Mentees will receive access to online lectures for all subjects and smart devices. The programme also offers one-on-one study guidance and emotional mentoring from university student mentors, along with vacation camps, cultural experiences and scholarships for outstanding participants.

A KB Kookmin Bank official said, "In the AI era, digital capabilities are future competitiveness, so we strengthened the mentoring programme so teenagers can develop the right capabilities to use AI." The official added, "We will continue to expand tailored support to help eliminate education gaps."
