[Digital Today reporter Jinju Hong] State Bicycle has launched a titanium fixed-gear track bike, the Ti Track, priced at under $1,600. It said the product lowers the entry barrier in the titanium bicycle market, where prices are typically relatively high.

BikeRumor, a mobility media outlet, reported on July 29 that the Ti Track is sold from $999.99 (about 1.45 million won) for the frameset and from $1,599.99 (about 2.3 million won) for the complete bike.

The biggest feature of the new product is the application of a titanium frame to the track bike lineup. State Bicycle said it used Grade 9 titanium for the main tubes and higher-strength Grade 5 titanium for the dropouts, bottom bracket and head tube. The company explained that titanium is a material that can maintain stable performance over a long period because it is resistant to fatigue and corrosion.

The frame design also attempts to differentiate it from existing track bikes. The Ti Track supports tyres up to 38c in width and is designed to respond to a wider range of riding environments than typical track frames. The company said each tube of the frame applies an in-house aerodynamic shape to improve the balance between stiffness and ride comfort.

The complete bike comes standard with a full-carbon fork and a carbon steerer tube to reduce weight, and the cables are routed internally through the frame for a clean look. It also supports mounting front and rear rim brakes so it can be used not only as a track bike but also as an urban single-gear bike.

The standard gear ratio is 48x17, and it ships with a setting suitable for urban riding. The complete bike comes standard with Vittoria 30c tyres, a Black Label mid-profile wheelset and 170 mm track cranks.

The drivetrain uses a flip-flop hub so riders can easily switch between fixed-gear and single-speed by fitting a freewheel. The handlebar can be chosen from a compact drop bar and a wide riser bar.

State Bicycle is also offering various component upgrade options. It is configured so users can replace parts or boost performance to suit their riding style. The company introduced the Ti Track as a "titanium entry-level model at a fairly accessible price."

Industry observers view the product as a strategy aimed at consumers who enjoy urban riding and fixed-gear riding by offering a titanium frame, which had a strong high-priced image, at a more reasonable price. The Ti Track is currently being sold through State Bicycle's official website.
