XRP Ledger (XRPL) activated its fixCleanup3_2_0 upgrade on the mainnet. The rollout strengthened major features including single-asset vaults, lending protocols, permissioned decentralised exchanges (DEX), multi-purpose tokens and permissioned domains.
Blockchain media outlet U.Today reported on July 29 that the amendment took effect on July 28 after winning support from 30 of 35 validators.
The key point is that the XRP Ledger 3.2.0 series has become the new standard version for the mainnet. Hussein Zangana (후세인 잔가나), the XRP Ledger Foundation's community director who uses the nickname "Vet" on X, announced the milestone in a recent post. He said the XRP Ledger improved instantly, as if flipping a switch, as XRPL 3.2.0 became the new minimum supported version for the mainnet.
The upgrade largely refines features that were already deployed. Single-asset vaults and lending protocols include fixes related to precision and rounding, while patches were applied to the permissioned DEX and permissioned domains. It also adds validation for irregular-format multi-purpose token amounts and a new immutability check to keep ledger state cleaner.
The move follows Ripple's efforts to strengthen XRP Ledger security. Ripple said in March it would form a dedicated AI-supported red team to continuously look for XRP Ledger vulnerabilities. Security-focused XRPL 3.1.3 came first, and the cleanup and maintenance-focused 3.2.0 version was released in June. At the time, 3.2.0 included additional fixes to a list of identified vulnerabilities and the fixCleanup3_2_0 amendment.
The upgrade also requires follow-up steps by node operators. XRP Ledger explorer XRPScan posted that, after the amendment was activated, nodes using version 3.1.0 or earlier could be blocked from the network until they upgrade. It said those validators need to update their versions to maintain service continuity. Continuing to use older versions could mean they cannot properly participate in the consensus process.
Upbit, meanwhile, began supporting deposits and withdrawals of XRP Ledger-based RLUSD. Trading pairs are KRW, BTC and USDT.
The upgrade focuses on strengthening the stability and validation framework of already introduced features rather than adding new ones. That means near-term attention is expected to be on network operating stability, whether node upgrades are carried out, and service continuity for XRP Ledger-based services rather than immediate market prices.
