NH Investment & Securities has set up a dedicated organisation to respond to the inclusion of digital assets in the regulated system and the institutionalisation of tokenised securities (STO).

On July 27, the financial investment industry said NH Investment & Securities formed a digital asset task force (TFT) on July 22 to identify digital asset business opportunities and secure an execution base.

The head of the digital business division will lead the TFT. It consists of 1 full-time member and 6 part-time members. It will run through Dec. 31 and may be extended if needed.

Its main work is to identify digital asset business models that can respond to innovation in financial services and structural changes in capital markets, and to draw up detailed implementation plans.

It will also push short-term tasks in preparation for a tokenised securities institutionalisation law scheduled to take effect in February next year. It plans to focus on areas that can be commercialised quickly after the system takes effect.

It also plans to pursue a proof of concept (PoC) for issuing tokenised securities based on standardised securities, which are not currently allowed, to secure issuance capabilities in advance.

NH Investment & Securities expects digital assets to bring changes to capital market trading structures and financial services overall. It plans to marshal companywide capabilities to review related business opportunities.

An NH Investment & Securities official said, "We set up the TFT to respond pre-emptively as the inclusion of digital assets in the regulated system accelerates." The official added, "We will provide new services in line with regulatory changes."
