A major U.S. law enforcement organisation has publicly announced its support for a revised Clarity Act bill, as Coinbase moved to pressure the Senate to clearly state whether it intends to advance the legislation.

On July 25 local time, blockchain outlet U.Today reported that Coinbase Chief Legal Officer Paul Grewal (폴 그레월), shortly after the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) declared its support, called on the Senate to publicly state whether it would back the revision.

The reaction came after U.S. cryptocurrency reporter Eleanor Terrett (엘리너 테렛) relayed the FOP’s position. The FOP, a law enforcement organisation that has also taken part in talks on the Blockchain Regulatory Certainty Act (BRCA), publicly backed the latest revised version of the Clarity bill. Grewal urged legislative action, saying the Senate must choose whether to support the revised bill alongside the FOP or oppose it.

The key point is that the revision partially addresses concerns previously raised about investigative gaps. The FOP said the new bill reflects its earlier concerns while maintaining law enforcement authority to investigate cryptocurrency-related crime. It means the bill has been recalibrated to restore balance amid criticism that it could emphasise industry promotion and weaken investigative functions.

FOP President Patrick Yoes (패트릭 요스), in a letter to Senate Banking Committee Chairman Tim Scott and the panel’s top Democrat Elizabeth Warren, said the revision struck a better balance by encouraging innovation while providing tools for investigative agencies to address fraud and illicit finance involving digital assets. It indicates that law enforcement groups have shifted to support, on the condition that investigative powers are reinforced, rather than opposing institutional reforms.

Market and industry attention is focused on the Senate’s next move. The Clarity bill has been discussed for a long time, but the revision is being assessed as moving it one step closer to a legislative endpoint. Public support from a major law enforcement organisation is being read as a sign that the bill is expanding acceptance within the established system beyond a simple industry demand.
