[Digital Today reporter Chi-gyu Hwang (황치규)] Cryptocurrency exchange MEXC is supporting staking for Bittensor’s native token, TAO. Cointelegraph reported recently that the integration will allow MEXC users to participate in securing the Bittensor network and receive rewards.

The service was implemented by connecting Bittensor validator Yuma’s validation infrastructure to MEXC. Yuma said 40 million MEXC users can access TAO staking. The two companies said the integration is intended to broaden access to the Bittensor ecosystem and increase network participation.

Yuma is responsible within Bittensor’s consensus mechanism for evaluating subnet performance and assigning weights. The weights are used as the basis for distributing staking rewards.

Bittensor is a decentralised network that coordinates AI models and services through subnets. TAO holders can stake tokens with validators, and validators allocate them across subnets to earn rewards.

The Bittensor ecosystem currently consists of 128 subnets. Each subnet specialises in specific tasks such as AI inference, model training, coding assistance and financial modelling.
