Midjourney has acquired Co-Star, a social astrology app with 4,300,000 monthly active users. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.

TechCrunch reported on Thursday that users can check their astrology birth charts and share them with friends in the app. Co-Star has provided fortunes, compatibility assessments and various advice based on users' astrology information.

Co-Star's 24 employees also joined Midjourney as part of the acquisition. Midjourney is widely known for its large language model-based image and video generator, but it has run its service mainly through a Discord server without a separate app.

Midjourney is pursuing a medical business and a spa business in addition to image and video generation. TechCrunch reported that the acquisition also gives it a team with consumer app development experience, prompting talk of a possible standalone app launch.
