The Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) said on Wednesday it signed a memorandum of understanding with Korea Water Resources Corp to develop and expand construction site-specific closed-circuit television (CCTV) technology.
KISA said it pursued the cooperation to set standards for a CCTV performance testing and certification scheme that reflects the characteristics of construction sites with frequent equipment and worker movement. It plans to support the prevention of safety accidents at dam and water-supply construction sites.
Under the agreement, KISA will build a video database reflecting actual conditions at Korea Water Resources Corp construction sites and assess CCTV performance based on it. The results will be used to create a construction safety (water resources and water supply) specialized category under the CCTV performance testing and certification scheme operated by KISA.
Korea Water Resources Corp plans to support the environment needed to build the video data and to strengthen its smart safety management system by adopting KISA-certified products.
Oh Jin-young (오진영), head of the Information Security Industry Division at KISA, said, "I hope this agreement will serve as an opportunity to take construction site safety management systems to the next level." He added, "We will continue to expand related technology development and institutional support so that site-specific CCTV can contribute to building a safe society that protects people's everyday lives."
