Cointelegraph reported on Nov. 28 local time that cryptocurrency exchange Kucoin obtained a MiCA licence from Austria’s Financial Market Authority.

Kucoin EU can now offer virtual asset services in 29 countries in the European Economic Area except Malta.

Kucoin Chief Executive BC Wong said securing the MiCA licence in Austria is an important milestone for long-term trust building and regulatory compliance.

Kucoin applied for the licence in early 2025 and cited Austria’s stable regulatory environment and strong talent pool as reasons for its choice.
