Post Office Insurance will use AI to block insurance fraud in advance.

The Ministry of Science and ICT’s Postal Service said on Sunday it will 추진 an upgrade of Post Office Insurance’s AI-based Insurance Fraud Detection System (IFDS) to respond more effectively to insurance fraud.

The project will implement an integrated predictive model by combining machine learning-based AI technology with existing work rules. The AI will learn from various data to predict and detect in advance abnormal signs with a high likelihood of insurance fraud. It will also reflect operational know-how and application cases accumulated during private insurers’ IFDS buildouts to fit the Post Office Insurance environment, strengthening the system’s effectiveness.

The project is the first task in Post Office Insurance’s AI transformation (AX) initiative. The Postal Service said it will push ahead by focusing companywide capabilities, starting with a project kickoff briefing held last month. It expects the project to help prevent insurance payout leakage, protect policyholders safely, and improve Post Office Insurance’s reliability and financial soundness.

Postal Service chief In-hwan Park (박인환) said the project is “a starting point to fully scale up AI- and data-driven digital transformation.” He said it will continue expanding AI technology across insurance operations to drive innovation in customer service and improve work efficiency.
