Naver has opened an integrated page that provides natural disaster information and weather alerts at all times.

Naver said on Thursday it launched the "Naver Weather Safety" page, where users can check disaster and weather information such as typhoons, heavy rain, heatwaves, heavy snow, cold waves and earthquakes in one place. It converted a page that previously opened only during emergencies into an always-on service and revamped it so the screen is configured automatically in line with how a disaster situation unfolds.

The newly introduced Safety page uses artificial intelligence (AI) to summarise current conditions nationwide and in major regions and display risk levels in four stages, placing a "nationwide briefing" at the top. If users select the nationwide briefing, they can check detailed information such as weather alerts, disaster text messages and Weather Jebotalk.

Naver also continues to support a weather alert map that allows users to compare forecasts from 4 weather service providers at home and abroad and check nationwide alert conditions. It also runs a themed weather service that provides coordinate-based ultra-short-term forecasts for about 570 facilities nationwide, including baseball stadiums and golf courses.

The user weather reporting channel "Jebotalk", introduced in 2021, recorded a cumulative 630,000 reports as of June. About 54,000 reports were shared during the Kyungbuk wildfire in March last year, and it is being used as a real-time disaster response community.

Kim Hye-jin (김혜진), leader in charge of Naver's weather service, said, "We will quickly and accurately deliver the information users need in urgent disaster situations and fulfil our responsibility as a national platform." She added, "We plan to expand AI safety reports that analyse and notify risks at the neighbourhood level and provide personalised weather information for users in step with rapidly changing climate change."
