NHN KCP introduced payment infrastructure and export support programmes to South Korean companies seeking to enter the Japanese market, together with the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency.
NHN KCP said on July 3 it held the "NHN KCP·KOTRA briefing on entering the Japanese market" on July 2.
The briefing was arranged ahead of NHN KCP's domestic launch of Japan's easy payment service PayPay, to support South Korean merchants and companies preparing to expand into Japan.
PayPay is a major mobile payment service in Japan. The company said PayPay recorded 74.3 million cumulative subscribers and annual transaction volume of 1.94 trillion yen in 2025.
About 50 South Korean companies preparing to enter the Japanese market took part. Global partners including Japan's SB Payment Service and PayPay also joined.
The morning session introduced the state of Japan's payment market, trends and the PayPay service launch plan. NHN KCP plans to provide the PayPay service through SB Payment Service, a Japanese payment gateway operator.
The event also covered ways to use the trade payment card platform GTPP. NHN KCP presented payment solutions that companies engaged in reverse direct purchases for Japan, including K-beauty, fashion and content firms, can use.
In the afternoon, one-on-one tailored consultations were held for participating companies. Companies discussed Japan expansion plans through expert consultations by field, including payment system integration, overseas marketing, local logistics and legal guidance.
Noh Jae-wook (노재욱), executive director of NHN KCP's PG business division, said the company confirmed South Korean firms' interest in PayPay infrastructure and KOTRA's export support capabilities. He said NHN KCP would continue to support cross-border payment infrastructure so South Korean merchants can deliver results in the Japanese market.
