Woori Bank will expand offline payment locations for its prepaid, top-up easy payment service, Samsung Wallet Money & Point, launched together with Samsung Electronics.
Woori Bank said on Wednesday that Daiso and CU have newly joined Samsung Wallet Money & Point as strategic merchants.
Samsung Wallet Money & Point is an easy payment service that allows users to top up, transfer and pay in one place on the Samsung Wallet app. It has surpassed 2.5 million subscribers about seven months after launch.
Under the partnership, Samsung Wallet Money users will be able to make offline payments at Daiso stores nationwide and at about 18,000 CU convenience stores.
Woori Bank expects cooperation with distribution channels that handle many small-value payments to improve customer convenience. It plans to expand strategic merchant partnerships into other sectors, including food and beverages, beauty, and culture and entertainment.
Kim Dong-jin (김동진), head of Woori Bank's platform business division, said Daiso and CU are major retail channels closely tied to customers' daily lives, and the partnership will be an important opportunity to enhance Samsung Wallet Money's service competitiveness.
