Kakao supports a nationwide integrated public library card as a digital card through KakaoTalk.

On July 2, Kakao introduced the Talk Digital Card 'Book Eum Card' that lets users access the Book Eum service overseen by the National Library of Korea under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in KakaoTalk Wallet.

Book Eum is a service that allows users to use libraries participating in Book Eum nationwide with a single membership card. Kakao provides it as a Talk Digital Card, supporting users to use about 3,000 libraries nationwide without installing a separate app or carrying a physical membership card.

Users can get a Book Eum Card through the Wallet menu in the More tab in KakaoTalk. When visiting a library, they can borrow and return books using a barcode. The service also offers functions including real-time viewing of borrowed books, checking enrolled libraries and searching for books.

Lee Jeong-beom (이정범), leader of Kakao's Wallet Tribe, said, "By introducing the Book Eum service to KakaoTalk Wallet, more users can easily and conveniently use library services." He added, "We will continue to strive to contribute to revitalising public digital services in line with the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's policy to expand the opening of digital services."

Kakao also supports integrated management of various daily-life information in KakaoTalk Wallet, including Talk Digital Cards, electronic documents, card receipts and channel coupons.
