AI simultaneous interpretation and translation company XLA8 said on Tuesday it will supply its real-time AI interpretation and translation solution, EventCAT, to the 30th Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival, or BIFAN.
Audiences, including film and video industry participants, will be able to communicate in real time on venue screens at the BIFAN+ opening ceremony on July 4 and the awards ceremony on July 7 without renting dedicated receivers. By scanning a QR code, users can set subtitle size and interpretation languages on their smartphones. XLA8 plans to support interpretation and translation output with an average delay of 2 seconds or less.
XLA8 Chief Executive Sang-eun Lee (이상은) said, "As we have already proven EventCAT's technological capabilities at global cultural events, I am confident we can create an environment for communication without language barriers at BIFAN as well." He added, "We will continue expanding the scope of our real-time AI interpretation and translation services across global cultural events, including film festivals, awards ceremonies and conferences."
XLA8 also supplies MediaCAT, an AI localisation platform for video content.
