[Digital Today reporter Lee Ji-young] Shinhan Financial Group Chairman Jin Ok-dong (진옥동) took part in volunteer work to help residents of the Seoul Station shantytown stay healthy through the summer.
Shinhan Financial said on July 1 it carried out volunteer work to support shantytown residents on June 30 at the Seoul Station Shantytown Counseling Center in Yongsan, Seoul, together with Jin and group affiliate CEOs.
Shinhan Financial provided a refrigerator to the counseling center’s “Ongi Warehouse” sharing space.
It also sponsored summer daily necessities for 811 shantytown residents in the Dongja-dong, Namyeong-dong and Galwol-dong areas of Yongsan, Seoul.
Affiliate CEOs who joined the volunteer activity arranged the donated items themselves and visited shantytown households to check on residents.
Jin said, "I hope our employees’ hearts will reach the residents and help them get through the sweltering summer," and added, "We will continue social contribution activities that can provide practical help to neighbors in need."
