[Digital Today reporter Ji-young Lee] South Korea’s monthly exports exceeded $100 billion for the first time. Semiconductor exports also topped $40 billion for the first time, driving a rise in overall exports and an expansion of the trade surplus.
On Tuesday, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy said exports last month rose 70.9 percent from a year earlier to $102.24 billion.
It was the first time South Korea’s monthly exports exceeded $100 billion.
The export growth was led by semiconductors.
June semiconductor exports were $44.8 billion, up 199.5 percent from the same month a year earlier. It was also the first time monthly semiconductor exports exceeded $40 billion.
