Smilegate has wrapped up a hackathon for graduates of its technical talent development programmes, focused on improving workplace environments.

Smilegate said on June 29 it held the two-day, overnight event from June 27 to 28 at its Smilegate campus, with about 30 members of its MODAC community taking part in 'Modacton 2026'.

The event was run with business teams directly proposing problems and taking part in judging. Smilegate's CrossFire development organisation presented issues it faces in the field, including exploring ways to improve efficiency in game play and quality assurance processes and identifying content insights based on market trends and user responses.

Participants were graduates of the company's technical talent programmes, including Development Camp, UNSEEN, Smilegate Membership (SGM) and Sogang University's DHE track. They planned and built ideas to raise productivity and collaboration efficiency based on business tasks and free topics.

The overall winner was the Boogie On&On team, which turned AI response waiting times into podcast-style learning content.

Kim Don-jin (김돈진), head of Smilegate's Talent Acquisition Team, said Modacton 2026 brought together technical talent from different fields to consider real-world problems and explore solutions, generating insights. He said Smilegate plans to continue serving as a community and bridge where talented technical workers can learn from each other, grow and connect with business teams.
