Hana Financial Group took part in the 38th Seoul Special City Deaf One Mind Sports Festival held at Noryangjin Football Field on June 27 and carried out employee volunteer activities to raise awareness of hearing disabilities, it said on June 29.
About 30 graduates of Hana Financial’s in-house sign language training programme, which has been run since 2023, joined the volunteer work. Using sign language learned through the course, employees communicated with deaf participants and supported event operations.
Volunteers provided bottled water to help prevent heat-related illnesses, shared boxed meals with deaf participants and their families, and offered instant photo printing services.
Hana Financial’s sign language training programme has produced about 300 graduates in total through its seventh course, held in May. Hana Financial is expanding the training by linking it to volunteer work for the hearing impaired as an employee-participation social contribution activity.
A Hana Financial official said, "We hope this will serve as an opportunity to spread a culture of inclusion in our society." The official added, "We will expand volunteer activities involving employees and deliver a message of hope to those in need of help."
