South Korea's Ministry of Science and ICT said on June 29 that domestic blockchain companies will take part in GITEX AI Europe 2026, to be held from June 30 to July 1 at Messe Berlin in Germany, together with the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA).

The ministry and KISA will work with local governments including Busan and Daegu to set up a Korea blockchain pavilion. A total of 23 domestic companies will participate. They will introduce Korea's blockchain technologies and services to the European market for use in areas including ESG, maritime logistics management and online voting.

The technological capability and business potential of Korean blockchain companies are also drawing attention locally. Leadpoint System and Marina Chain, Korean blockchain companies, advanced to the semifinals in the Supernova Challenge, a GITEX startup IR competition involving about 130 companies worldwide. The ministry and KISA plan to support these companies so they can deliver strong results through the final round.

The ministry and KISA will also run a networking programme in cooperation with the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) and AsiaBerlin, an innovation support organisation under the city of Berlin. About 200 local investors, buyers and company officials are expected to participate.

Lee Do-gyu (이도규), director general for ICT Policy at the ministry, said the event would provide an opportunity for Korean blockchain companies to have their technological capability and business potential validated in Europe and to expand opportunities to work with global partners. He said the government would systematically support overseas expansion by Korean blockchain companies, working with KISA, local governments and related organisations under a Team Korea approach, and would support them to deliver tangible results.
