Shinhan Financial Group is combining generative AI with its accountability framework-based internal control management system.
Shinhan Financial said on Saturday it has completed the buildout of SCoRE AI, which combines generative AI with the group’s shared internal control platform, the Shinhan Responsibility Performance Management System, and will begin official operations from June 29.
SCoRE is an abbreviation for the Shinhan Responsibility Performance Management System’s English name, Shinhan Controls & Responsibilities Evaluation.
It was designed to upgrade the group’s internal control system by drawing on accumulated experience operating its accountability framework.
SCoRE AI summarises and analyses checks conducted by responsible departments to support the fulfilment of duties by executives who have final responsibility for internal control. It can check accountability items by executive and automatically verify supporting materials, summarise and analyse departmental check details, and assess completeness.
It also periodically collects and briefs external issues such as financial incidents, sanctions and revisions to laws and regulations. Executives can register instructions based on the briefings and reflect them in check items.
Shinhan Financial said it built SCoRE AI on the group’s own servers to secure both security and broad usability. The structure integrates and analyses internal data such as accountability frameworks, check details and internal rules, along with external data such as laws and regulations, disclosures by supervisory authorities and news, to present the latest regulatory environment and response direction.
Shinhan Financial also said it has completed a patent application for core technology related to its case of combining generative AI with the internal control platform. In line with the official launch, it will conduct employee training and plans to receive regular information on trends in financial regulation by signing a business agreement with law firm Bae Kim & Lee LLC.
Jin Ok-dong (진옥동), chairman of Shinhan Financial, said, "Internal control is a core competitiveness that determines the sustainability of a financial company." He added, "We will add AI capabilities to our experience operating the accountability framework to build a more responsible and sophisticated internal control system."
