[DigitalToday reporter Seulgi Son] Dlive, the largest cable TV operator in the Seoul metropolitan area, said on Thursday it has reorganised its viewer committee and held a kickoff meeting.

The meeting on June 23 at Dlive's headquarters in Samseong-dong was attended by Dlive CEO Duck-il Kim (김덕일) and a total of 30 committee members, with 10 from each of three entities: Dlive, Dlive Gyeonggi Eastern Cable TV and Dlive Gangnam Cable TV. The members consist of experts in fields including the economy, law, the media, culture, women and human rights.

The reorganisation follows revisions to the Broadcasting Act promulgated in August last year. Under the revised enforcement decree and rules, Dlive shortened the meeting cycle from quarterly to monthly and strengthened eligibility requirements for members.

Dlive's viewer committee plans to continue advisory activities through monthly meetings, including offering views on local channel operations and programmes, protecting viewers' rights and promoting fairness and public interest in broadcasting.

Dlive said it strengthened the role of the viewer committee to ensure more fair and responsible operation of local channels. It said it would create a virtuous cycle of strengthening channel competitiveness based on improving viewers' rights.
