SK Shieldus said on June 25 that its data engineering team won second place in the Korean-language track at Databricks' "2026 Data and AI-based Intelligent Application Development Hackathon."
The hackathon was an AI competition for the APAC region, with more than 100 teams taking part from South Korea, Australia, India, Japan and Singapore.
The event ran three language tracks: Korean, English and Japanese. Participants used Databricks AI platform technologies, including AI agent development, data analysis and management, and generative AI features, to build intelligent data applications at an actual service level.
SK Shieldus' data engineering team presented an AI-based app service, "Todak Todak," and was selected as second place in the Korean track.
Todak Todak is a service in which a guardian describes a child's emergency situation or health condition by voice and AI analyzes it to guide tailored responses depending on the level of urgency. It also links real-time data, including nearby hospital information and emergency room crowding levels, to provide needed information quickly.
SK Shieldus developed Todak Todak based on its experience using data accumulated through operating its physical security brand ADT Caps and its AI technology capabilities.
An SK Shieldus official said, "This hackathon was a meaningful experience that verified the company's AI technology capabilities while also confirming its value for use in the living safety field." The official added, "We plan to continue enhancing ADT Caps competitiveness based on AI and data, while expanding safety and care services closely tied to daily life into areas such as senior care and home security."
