Baemin now lets multiple users automatically split and settle the cost of food ordered together within the app. Woowa Brothers, the operator of Baemin, said on Wednesday it has opened a Dutch pay feature for customers using the in-app Together Order service.
Together Order is a group ordering service in which multiple people share a link for a single store, add their preferred items and combine them into one order for delivery. Settlement can become complicated when participants order different items or when discounts apply. Woowa Brothers said it developed the Dutch pay feature as the first such function among domestic delivery platforms to address this.
Under the service, the person placing the order pays first, then requests Dutch pay from participants after delivery is completed. The total amount can be split equally among participants or calculated based on the items each person ordered. Users can also manually adjust the automatically calculated amounts.
Dutch pay is available when participants have signed up for Baemin Pay. Because requested amounts are sent as Baemin Pay Money within the app, ordering, payment and settlement can be handled in a single app. The feature is currently operating for some customers and is set to expand to all customers by the end of this month.
Choi Seong-gil (최성길), head of Woowa Brothers' payment and settlement product office, said the Dutch pay feature in Together Order improves convenience by resolving a previously cumbersome settlement process with a few touches. He said the company will continue to evolve to lower payment and settlement hurdles in daily life and provide a valuable dining experience.
