LG Uplus said on Wednesday it has launched an Apple iPad-based IPTV bundled product called U+tv Free5 for iPad ("U+tv Free for iPad").

U+tv Free for iPad combines IPTV and a tablet, and the product line has previously been launched mainly around Android operating system-based tablets. LG Uplus said the new U+tv Free5 for iPad applies an iPadOS-based product for the first time to broaden device choice and expand user experience.

The Apple iPad A16 that can use U+tv Free5 for iPad comes with WiFi 6 and a Liquid Retina display, providing clear and vivid picture quality when watching video content.

It provides live channels, including terrestrial channels, and VOD content. It also supports a touch-based interface and a voice search function.

U+tv Free5 for iPad bundles the device and IPTV service. It is available only with the iPad A16 activated through LG Uplus and in homes that install a designated WiFi router. If users take a three-year contract for the U+ Internet 1G plan and the U+tv Premium plan, they can watch U+tv on an iPad A16 WiFi 128GB model for a monthly installment of 9,900 won, including value-added tax.

LG Uplus first launched U+tv Free in 2018. It has since expanded the lineup with products such as Free4 and Free5 SE, continuously improving performance and usability.

In-ho Oh (오인호), head of media business at LG Uplus and an executive director, said U+tv Free is a flagship product that has expanded customers' viewing experience by combining a tablet and IPTV. He added that the iPad-based product will provide a new user experience to a broader range of customers.
