[Digital Today reporter Chi-gyu Hwang] ByteDance, the Chinese technology company that operates TikTok, unveiled its new AI video generation model Seedance 2.5 at a conference in Beijing on June 23.
Seedance 2.5 is an upgraded version of Seedance 2.0 and can generate videos up to 30 seconds long. The number of reference materials that can be included in prompts, such as image, video and audio files, increased to 50 from 12 in Seedance 2.0. The more reference materials used, the more precisely users can control the video they want.
ByteDance plans to launch Seedance 2.5 in China in July. It has not yet disclosed a timetable for an overseas launch.
ByteDance faced conflict with major U.S. entertainment companies over its previous model, Seedance 2.0.
In February, hyper-realistic videos featuring Hollywood celebrities and videos using copyrighted content spread on social media, leading ByteDance into legal disputes with major U.S. entertainment companies including Disney, Warner Bros Discovery, Paramount Skydance and Netflix.
