A post office health insurance product that allows customers to choose a subscription type depending on their health condition is being launched.

The Ministry of Science and ICT’s Postal Service said on June 16 it will begin selling from June 17 the “Non-dividend Post Office Easy Health Insurance 2606,” which improves a simplified-screening protection product.

Simplified-screening insurance is a product that allows enrollment through simple disclosures, such as recent disease treatment or hospitalization history, instead of complex medical screening. The eligible age for the simplified-screening plan was expanded to 20 to 80 from 30 to 80 so that people in their 20s with a medical history can also receive coverage. The eligible age for the general plan, which customers without a medical history join, was also expanded to 80 from 70. As a result, healthy older customers can choose a subscription type that fits their health condition.

The Post Office Easy Health Insurance covers accidental death through the main contract and covers diagnosis, surgery, treatment and caregiving for major diseases through 21 riders. The types of riders that can be chosen and coverage amounts are the same even if the subscription type differs depending on health condition. Customers with a history of illness can receive the same level of coverage as healthy customers.

Park In-hwan (박인환), head of the Postal Service, said the main focus was to help customers who had difficulty joining insurance due to a disease history enroll easily and receive the coverage they need. He said the service would work to eliminate blind spots in insurance coverage and provide quality insurance services to more people.
