[DigitalToday reporter Ji-young Lee (이지영)] Shinhan Bank has introduced a point-earning card with Shinhan Card that links card-use benefits with bank account benefits. It is designed to offer extra point accrual and interest-rate benefits when points earned from card spending are deposited into a dedicated money-box product.

Shinhan Bank said on Monday it has launched two versions of the "Shinhan Card SOL Plan+" with Shinhan Card.

Shinhan Card SOL Plan+ is a point-earning card designed to provide additional benefits by linking SOL Plan points earned from card use with Shinhan Bank’s "SOL Plan Point Box."

It provides 75,000 SOL Plan points each month depending on card spending and Shinhan Bank payment-account balance conditions. If accumulated points are deposited into the SOL Plan Point Box, customers receive an additional 10 percent point accrual benefit.

The SOL Plan Point Box is a money-box product dedicated to SOL Plan points. It offers a maximum annual interest rate of 5.0 percent, combining a base annual rate of 0.1 percent and a preferential annual rate of 4.9 percent. The preferential rate applies simply by holding the point box. Points saved in the point box can be withdrawn or transferred through a linked Shinhan Bank account.

The product is characterised by a benefit structure that connects card use, point accrual and deposits into the point box. SOL Plan points can be earned when using domestic and overseas merchants and everyday-life categories.

Shinhan Bank and Shinhan Card also launched the "SOL Mate Shinhan Card SOL Plan+," which applies special accrual benefits to categories frequently used by senior customers, including hospitals, marts, coffee shops and bakeries.

A Shinhan Bank official said, "This product is designed by combining card-use benefits with Shinhan Bank account and point-management benefits so that customers can feel greater financial benefits in everyday spending."
