LG Uplus said on Saturday that its participatory campaign 'Simple Mailbox', which connects customers through voice-based encouragement messages, is drawing a positive response.
Simple Mailbox is a service in which users leave or listen to encouragement messages through a phone-based interactive voice response system. It was inspired by social changes in which the volume of messages has increased as connections have become routine in a digital environment, but sincere conversation and emotional communication have declined. It also operates anonymously, allowing users to leave and listen to messages without 부담.
LG Uplus presented the experience of exchanging voice-based encouragement messages as a new way to communicate. It said the voice medium can convey emotional nuance, offering a more sincere communication experience.
Customers who want to participate can call the main number 1811-1110, regardless of carrier, and choose 1 for leaving encouragement, 2 for listening to encouragement, or 3 for leaving encouragement for firefighters. Encouragement messages are recorded for about 1 minute and stored messages are delivered to other users.
Collected voice data is converted to text and analysed for context using artificial intelligence, then categorised. It then automatically matches and provides encouragement messages suited to a user's situation. It filters inappropriate expressions. The encouragement messages are made up of 12 types, including education and employment, workplace and work, human relationships, and burnout and lethargy.
The campaign is also linked with content titled 'People Who Fight Every Day With 1 Second' to promote LG Uplus' firefighter corporate line priority access service, which supports firefighters' rapid rescue operations. For each use of the leave encouragement and leave encouragement for firefighters functions, 1,000 won is accrued and donated to 'Firefighter Family Hope Sharing'.
LG Uplus said more than 1,000 encouragement messages accumulated on Simple Mailbox in 3 days immediately after it was made public. The company said positive responses also continued on social media.
Kim Hee-jin (김희진), head of the brand marketing team at LG Uplus, said, "I think the essence of telecommunications lies in having someone's 마음 reach someone else through voice." She added, "Going forward, LG Uplus will continue to listen to customers' voices through Simple Lab and, through Simple Mailbox, create a new participatory culture in which people exchange encouragement with a single voice."
