As the XRP Ledger (XRPL) marked its 14th anniversary, Ripple executives credited the XRP community and ecosystem participants for the network's growth.

On June 3, blockchain outlet The Crypto Basic reported that former Ripple chief technology officer David Schwartz (데이비드 슈워츠) and Chief Executive Brad Garlinghouse (브래드 갈링하우스) highlighted XRPL's growth and the community's role on social media platform X, formerly Twitter.

The anniversary marked 14 years since the foundation for XRPL was laid. Schwartz said the starting point of the XRP Ledger was to build a system that handles global value transfers better. He added that the current results were not created by the power of only a few founders.

Schwartz said XRP and the XRP Ledger did not succeed through only three founders, Arthur Brito, Jed McCaleb and himself, and that developers, validators, companies and community members grew the ecosystem together. He said, "The community helped make today's XRP."

Garlinghouse also joined the congratulatory message the same day. Calling it "the honor of a lifetime" to have supported XRP for a long time, he reaffirmed his attachment to the ecosystem. Ripple has maintained its stance that it will support XRP's long-term growth through partnerships, acquisitions and new product launches.

The 14th anniversary also renewed attention on XRPL's early development history. Vet, a dUNL validator for XRPL, introduced an early code contribution Jed McCaleb left on Oct. 14, 2011. The code included a comment saying, "The first ledger (genesis) must be accepted on faith," and Vet explained it as a scene symbolising the "leap of faith" needed in XRPL's early stage.

XRPL is currently considered one of the longest-running blockchain networks in the cryptocurrency industry. The network's range of use has also moved beyond its early payment-centred structure. It now supports cross-border payment infrastructure as well as institutional blockchain use and tokenisation.

Institutional adoption is also continuing. Japanese financial conglomerate SBI launched a fully regulated token issuance platform on XRPL. This shows XRPL is expanding use cases beyond being a simple remittance network.

Network use is also significant. Based on Dune Analytics tallies, XRPL has processed more than 4,410,000,000 transactions since launch. On June 2 alone, 1,920,000 transactions were processed.

XRP's market value also remains near the top. XRP is currently ranked fifth among cryptocurrencies worldwide with a market capitalisation of about $76.02 billion. Its price is $1.22 per token. Against this backdrop, XRPL is evolving beyond its symbolism as a long-running network into a structure that expands both real transaction processing and institutional use.
