Anthropic has confidentially submitted an initial public offering registration statement to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. On June 1, CNBC reported that Anthropic would have the option to pursue a listing once the SEC review is completed.
In a statement, Anthropic said the planned IPO could change depending on market conditions and other factors.
The submission puts Anthropic ahead of OpenAI in taking steps toward a listing. OpenAI is also preparing to confidentially submit a registration statement. SpaceX has already officially submitted a registration statement and is holding an investor roadshow this week before pursuing a listing next week.
Anthropic was founded in 2021 by executives and researchers who left OpenAI, citing concerns about the company's direction.
Anthropic said in May that its annualised revenue increased to $47.0 billion. That is a sharp rise from $10.0 billion last year. Last week, it also raised new funding at a valuation of $965.0 billion.
