KAIST is declaring a vision for its artificial intelligence (AI) college and speeding up efforts to develop AI talent and innovate research.

KAIST held the "KAIST AI College Vision Declaration" event at 10 a.m. on Sunday at its Academic and Cultural Center on campus. It was an occasion to share a vision and 추진 direction for training key talent to lead the AI era, innovating education and research, cooperating with industry and building a responsible AI ecosystem.

KAIST AI College will train both research talent to lead core AI technologies and convergence talent that can creatively use AI in various fields. It will build an education and research system spanning model, algorithm, system, infrastructure and domain convergence, as well as future society design and responsible AI.

The event began with welcome remarks by KAIST President Kwang Hyung Lee (이광형), followed by a keynote lecture by Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Science and ICT Kyung-hoon Bae (배경훈). Bae presented directions for developing key talent and innovating education in the AI era. In the main session, KAIST AI College Dean Kukjin Yoon (윤국진) presented the college's mid- to long-term vision and 추진 strategy under the theme "Vision and Innovation Direction of KAIST AI College."

The event also held an appointment ceremony for the KAIST AI College advisory group. Overseas advisers include University of Montreal professor Yoshua Bengio and New York University professor Kyunghyun Cho (조경현). Domestic participants include the Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) as well as Naver Cloud, Lunit, Rebellion, Samsung Electronics, SK Telecom, Upstage, NC AI, Inaible Fusion, Krafton and Hyundai Motor and 42dot.

It also featured a special AI innovation session on the theme "New Education and Research Grammar in the AI Era." Undergraduate student representatives took part as presenters, followed by a panel discussion with the AI college dean, advisers and students.

Yoon said, "KAIST AI College seeks to become an education and research platform that expands human intellectual capabilities together with AI." He added, "We will grow into a hub that leads world-class AI talent development, challenging research and the building of a responsible AI ecosystem."

Lee said, "AI is a key driver that leads changes across science and technology, industry and society beyond technology in a specific field." He added, "I will actively support KAIST AI College so it can lead South Korea's AI talent development and research innovation and grow into a platform that cooperates with the world."
