German premium camera brand Leica is expanding its design, centred on black and silver, with a modern Metal Gray colour. Leica Camera Korea said on May 29 it will roll out in stages new products with a Metal Gray paint finish for the M11-P, Q3 and D-Lux 8, as well as the Apo-Summicron-M 1:2/50 ASPH. lens.
The Leica M11-P, the first M system model to feature Metal Gray, will go on sale from May 29. Its full-metal body is paired with Leica’s signature diamond-pattern leather to create a premium feel. The Apo-Summicron-M 1:2/50 ASPH. lens will be released at the same time, with the same Metal Gray finish applied to the body and front cap. Red details are added to the rangefinder and aperture markings.
The full-frame compact Q3 and pocket-sized D-Lux 8 Metal Gray models are due to be released on July 16. The Q3’s black controls contrast with its Metal Gray body, while the D-Lux 8 is equipped with a DC Vario-Summilux 1:1.7-2.8/10.9-34 ASPH. lens to provide high image quality in a compact size. The launch will also include dedicated accessories such as a dark brown leather strap, a braided leather strap and cases.
A Leica Camera official said, "The Metal Gray paint finish is a colour variation that expands Leica’s classic design in a modern direction, and it will be another special choice for users who value Leica’s unique aesthetics." The Leica M11-P and Apo-Summicron-M lens can be purchased at Leica Camera stores.
