Meta is expanding consumer subscription plans globally for Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp, and is testing new subscriptions for creators, businesses and Meta AI users, TechCrunch reported on May 27 local time.
The consumer plans are offered as Instagram Plus ($3.99 a month), Facebook Plus ($3.99 a month) and WhatsApp Plus ($2.99 a month), the report said. They offer additional features such as profile customisation, super reactions and story insights. They do not replace the existing Meta Verified service.
Instagram Plus offers viewing story replays, an unlimited story audience list, a weekly story spotlight, extending stories after 24 hours, and searching viewer lists. It also includes custom app icons and changing profile bio fonts. Facebook Plus offers similar features, while WhatsApp Plus supports app themes, custom ringtones, additional pinned chats and premium stickers.
Meta is testing two plans for Meta AI users: Meta One Plus ($7.99 a month) and Meta One Premium ($19.99 a month). Premium offers deeper reasoning for complex tasks and expanded support for video and image generation features. Testing will begin next month in Singapore, Guatemala and Bolivia.
Creator and business plans will also enter testing this week. Meta One Essential ($14.99 a month) offers a verification badge, impersonation protection and Linksheet. Meta One Advanced ($49.99 a month) adds benefits including exposure in the Facebook feed, higher placement in search results, emphasising the follow button on Reels, and automatically sending follow invitations to content engagers.
It also offers the ability to add website and shopping links to Instagram posts and Reels, and customised audience insights for competitor analysis.
Meta plans to integrate these subscription services under the brand name Meta One. Naomi Gleit (나오미 글라이트), Meta's head of product, said the AI and professional plans are still in an experimental stage and will be expanded and updated over time.
