Anthropic is hiring a copy lead to manage messaging strategy for corporate customers, offering annual pay of up to $320,000.

Business Insider reported on May 22 that the copy lead will write long-form pieces, scripts, event copy and text for social media. Candidates must have at least 10 years of experience, and the pay range is $255,000 to $320,000 a year. Anthropic is also hiring a head of copy and content, with a pay range of $320,000 to $400,000.

Job postings show Anthropic is seeking an ability to explain complex product features and customer outcomes in clear and specific language that also reads as engaging. It has effectively set high pay for writing that makes technically heavy AI products easy to explain to the public and corporate customers.

This trend is also appearing at other AI companies. OpenAI acquired tech talk show TBPN in April, and staff from the program will handle marketing and communications work.

Writing jobs are also seen as an area that could be heavily affected by the spread of AI. In 2023, a copywriter said their work was already being replaced by ChatGPT. Andrej Karpathy, who recently joined Anthropic, rated exposure for copywriting roles at 8 to 9 and saw it as a level with a very high likelihood of being affected by AI.

Even so, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics forecast writing-related jobs will increase 4 percent from 2024 to 2034. Anthropic CEO Daniela Amodei, a literature major, said in February that the more AI can do many tasks, the more important elements that make people human will become.
