Stablecoin issuer Tether has bought about 26 percent of Twenty One Capital held by SoftBank Group, Cointelegraph reported on Tuesday.
The purchase price was not disclosed. SoftBank was one of Twenty One Capital's early investors. The firm launched in 2025 as a bitcoin treasury company backed by Cantor Fitzgerald and led by Jack Mallers (잭 몰러스).
Neither Tether nor Twenty One Capital disclosed the size of Tether's stake. SoftBank-appointed directors will step down from Twenty One Capital's board following the ownership change.
The deal strengthens Tether's control over Twenty One Capital, allowing it to expand its influence over strategy and governance.
Twenty One Capital has unveiled plans to shift beyond a pure bitcoin treasury model and become a bitcoin-focused comprehensive financial services company. It plans to combine bitcoin lending, mining and capital markets businesses with its treasury operations.
