Krafton said on May 21 that ocean survival game 'Subnautica 2' has surpassed 4 million global sales within five days of its early access launch.

'Subnautica 2', developed by Krafton subsidiary creative studio Unknown Worlds, sold 1 million copies on the day of its early access release. It then surpassed 2 million copies within 12 hours of launch and topped 4 million in cumulative sales on the fifth day.

On Steam, it recorded a peak concurrent user count of 467,000 and averaged 1.3 million daily active users. Cumulative play time totals 28.57 million hours. Reviews registered on Steam total about 73,000, and the user rating remains 'Very Positive', with 91 percent positive feedback.

'Subnautica 2' will roll out patches in stages based on user feedback. It plans to improve the deep-sea exploration experience by adjusting creatures’ aggressiveness and perception range and strengthening the utility of survival tools.

Executive producer Fernando Melo (페르난도 멜로) said, "We extend our deep gratitude to players around the world who have dived into this alien sea with a passion beyond what we imagined." He added, "Early access is a collaborative process of completing the game together with players. We will continue to listen to players’ voices and deliver more in-depth fun in exploration and adventure."

Krafton director Jin-hyung Lee (이진형) said, "What is ultimately most necessary to complete the deep-sea experience that 'Subnautica 2' depicts is players’ feedback." He added, "We will spare no support so that the early access experience can be a satisfying journey for players."

'Subnautica 2' is the official sequel in the 'Subnautica' series developed by Unknown Worlds, founded by Charlie Cleveland and Max McGuire. Set on an alien planet different from the previous title, it rendered an unknown ecosystem with graphics based on Unreal Engine 5. Another feature is the series’ first introduction of a co-op mode for up to 4 players.

'Subnautica 2' is available on Steam, the Epic Games Store and Xbox Series X|S.
