Woowa Brothers, the operator of Baedal Minjok, said on Wednesday it distributed an English edition of “Easy Delivery App Guide.”
“Easy Delivery App Guide” is a manual made up of simple language and illustrations so anyone can use the app regardless of disability or age. The English edition, released to coincide with Global Accessibility Awareness Day, was made to help foreign customers unfamiliar with Korean use the Baemin app more easily.
The English release is linked to a multilingual function update for the Baemin app implemented in February. With growing interest in K-culture, the number of foreign visitors to South Korea is increasing, and the number of foreigners using delivery apps is also rising. Baemin’s global-payment orders in December last year surged about 300 percent from the same period a year earlier in 2024.
“Easy Delivery App Guide” was first planned in 2021 for users who have difficulty using digital devices, including older people and people with developmental disabilities. Since then, Baemin has updated the manual each year around Global Accessibility Awareness Day. From 2021 to April last year, 1,850 copies were distributed to about 870 welfare institutions nationwide, and visitors to the related website topped 226,000.
In addition to distributing the manual, Baemin has worked to raise practical usability by providing in-person training at welfare centers nationwide and adding a “Practice” function on its online website. It is also working with the National Information Society Agency to use the manual in digital competency strengthening courses at the “Digital Learning Center.” Baemin plans to solicit stories from welfare centers or individuals who need the manual and deliver it this year as well.
Kim Joong-hyun (김중현), head of the sustainability management office, said the company has steadily improved the guide for users who find delivery apps difficult or unfamiliar, and this year planned an English version to improve accessibility for foreign customers who want to experience South Korea’s delivery culture. He said the company would continue working to expand accessibility so its food delivery service leaves no one behind.
