LG Electronics is running its air-conditioner production line in Changwon, South Gyeongsang province, at full capacity to meet demand amid early heat. After raising operations from April, sales of LG Whisen stand air conditioners in May have risen by more than double digits from a year earlier, the company said on Tuesday.
Sales of air conditioners with AI functions have also increased from last year. Direct-to-consumer and subscription sales are also expanding. Since May, direct air-conditioner sales and subscription sales through LG Electronics' Online Brand Shop have increased by more than 50 percent and more than 20 percent, respectively, from a year earlier. The company said installation by professional engineers and a transparent installation-fee policy helped boost customer trust.
LG Electronics launched new 2026 Whisen models in January, featuring the "AI Cold Free" function for the first time. It provides a function that independently controls cooling and dehumidification. The Whisen View series, released in 2024, has expanded to six models including the value model "LG Whisen AI Objet Collection View I". The Whisen Cool series introduced last year also expanded its lineup by adding the "Whisen Cool Pro", which makes airflow control easier.
The subscription service includes regular care services such as outdoor unit checks, product cleaning and hygiene management. It also includes one free removal and reinstallation, and free repair and warranty benefits during the subscription period. LG Electronics has been running live broadcasts at least three times a month on its Online Brand Shop since April.
Lee Jae-sung (이재성), head of LG Electronics' ES Business Division and president, said, "LG Whisen air conditioners will continue to introduce AI convenience that customers can feel in everyday life, such as the AI Cold Free function that controls temperature and humidity separately, and will lead the premium AI air-conditioner market."
