[Digital Today reporter Chi-kyu Hwang (황치규)] Google is partnering with Warby Parker and Gentle Monster to roll out a new AI-based smart glasses product.
TechCrunch reported on May 19 (local time) that Google unveiled a new smart glasses lineup at its annual I/O developer conference and said it plans to release it this year.
The device works with both Android and iOS devices and was designed in collaboration with Samsung Electronics. Users can give voice commands to the glasses and use Google apps and services, including Gemini.
Google calls the product "audio glasses" and, in a demonstration, shared a scene of a user speaking to the glasses to order coffee online. It works by carrying out voice commands while the device is synced with a smartphone.
This is not Google's first attempt to take on the smart glasses market. Google previously launched Google Glass but failed to make it widely adopted.
In recent months, large companies including Meta and startups have been entering the smart glasses market in succession.
