Solu M said on Monday it has begun mass production shipments of integrated headlamp controllers for North American finished vehicles through its Mexico manufacturing unit. The shipped product is a core automotive electronics component that supplies current to LED light sources in headlamps and integrates lighting functions through software-based control. It integrates LED drive control with IFS (intelligent front-lighting system) and AFS (adaptive front-lighting system) functions in a single controller, automatically adjusting lighting direction and brightness depending on road conditions. The industry classifies the component as the "brain of the headlamp."

Solu M obtained shipment eligibility after about six months of process and product approval procedures for a global tier-1 supplier to finished vehicle makers. It completed the entire process, from starting mass-production review to supplier registration and final approval and shipment, within a year. The company said the timetable is unusually fast for a new entrant in automotive electronics components.

The supply is structured so Solu M's Mexico unit produces and delivers the products directly. The Tijuana plant is located one hour from San Diego, offering strong physical connectivity to the North American automotive supply chain. It also has the advantage of enabling stable regional supply under the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) framework.

With the mass production shipments, Solu M secured official qualification as an automotive electronics parts supplier. The company plans to sequentially prepare mass production of additional items while expanding its business scope into a specialised company with capabilities to design and develop key electrification components.

A Solu M official said the mass production shipments mean more than simply starting deliveries, adding they signify recognition as a reliable supplier in the North American automotive electronics supply chain. The official said the company will expand its scope from intelligent lighting control technology to high value-added electrification parts.
