Justem has secured 30 billion won in semiconductor policy funding from the Korea Development Bank to speed construction of a third plant and expand research and development investment. The funding is a fiscal-linked fund that the bank provides for facility investment to strengthen semiconductor manufacturing capabilities. Justem said on May 18 it obtained the funding at an ultra-low interest rate with a 10-year repayment term.

The company said the funding reflects external recognition of its growth potential and financial soundness. Justem plans to prioritise investment of the funds in infrastructure for a third plant it plans to build at Yongin Second Techno Valley. The third plant will be built as a mixed-use complex on a 19,835 square metre site, combining an integrated headquarters with research and production facilities. Employee welfare facilities, including a daycare centre, are also planned. The plant investment has created conditions for the company to focus more on expanding R&D and production infrastructure.

The company plans to pursue R&D investment in parallel, including upgrading a humidity-control solution now under development and work on next-generation semiconductor processes such as hybrid bonding. It said the humidity-control solution is applied to advanced semiconductor processes, including high-bandwidth memory (HBM), and that global demand is rising quickly. Justem forecasts the semiconductor supercycle will continue for the next several years and will also push ahead with expanding production infrastructure.

Vice President Mi-ae Lee (이미애) said, "Building the third plant will serve as an opportunity for a quantum jump in the future, as it comes with expectations that the strong first-quarter earnings surprise will continue and as it enables us to secure conditions to focus on advanced R&D."
